Phototherapy

Phototherapy involves using daylight or specific light wavelengths to treat skin conditions. Specific bands of light can help treat acne, psoriasis, and eczema. Phototherapy involves the use of either PUVA or UVB for the treatment of these conditions.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), or BroadBand Light Therapy (BBL), has proven effective at reducing the signs of aging by treating fine lines, wrinkles, and redness on the face. A study conducted by Dr. Patrick Bitter Jr and Dr. Jason Pozner on BroadBand Light validate its effectiveness as an anti-aging treatment. Patients, ages 38 to 69, who had regular BBL treatments over a period of 5 to 11 years appeared younger and had a reduction in wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots.

Phototherapy is a well established technique for the treatment of many conditions. In addition to treating medical problems, it can help with cosmetic issues including rosacea and signs of aging. The Pulse Dye Laser is commonly used for reducing redness and the appearance of spider veins on the face.
